Protecting a home requires looking at every entry point—from the ground level up. Our latest project demonstrates a "total package" approach to exterior security. On this classic red brick residence, we installed a suite of custom-fabricated white window guards alongside heavy-duty polycarbonate basement well covers. This combination not only secures the property against intrusion but also protects the basement from rain, debris, and pests.
The Challenge & Solution
The homeowner faced a dual challenge: they needed to secure their ground-floor windows (including a complex corner bay window), and they needed to solve a maintenance issue with their open basement window wells, which were constantly filling with leaves and rainwater.
Our solution was a cohesive design strategy. We fabricated geometric steel window guards finished in bright white to pop against the brickwork. For the basement, we installed custom bubble covers with matching white metal bases. This unified the look of the home while solving both security and drainage issues simultaneously.

The "Bubble" Well Cover: As seen in the close-up photos, we installed clear, high-impact polycarbonate domes over the basement window wells. The curved design sheds water and snow instantly, preventing basement flooding. The base features a decorative white lattice pattern that matches the window guards, ensuring that even utilitarian features look architectural.
Corner & Projecting Guards: Standard bars won't fit a corner window. We fabricated a custom wrap-around corner guard (shown in the second image) that follows the angle of the building perfectly. We also installed projecting "box" guards (fourth image) on other windows, providing the necessary depth to install window air conditioning units in the future without removing the security bars.
Art Deco Geometric Design: To avoid a harsh "institutional" look, we utilized a custom pattern featuring elongated rectangles and "floating" geometric shapes. This modern Art Deco style adds a layer of sophistication to the facade.
High-Contrast Aesthetics: The choice of a white powder-coated finish was deliberate. It provides a crisp, clean contrast to the dark red brick and grey mortar, brightening the overall appearance of the home while acting as a visible deterrent to intruders.
