Project Overview
A building's entrance must do two things: welcome visitors with an open, airy aesthetic and provide a secure, durable barrier against the elements. Our latest installation features a classic silver anodized aluminum storefront system, perfectly integrated into a contemporary grey stucco facade. This project exemplifies how a standard commercial double-door setup can elevate the architectural profile of a building while meeting rigorous safety standards.
The Challenge & Solution
For this location, the client needed to fill a large masonry opening with a system that maximized natural light without sacrificing structural integrity. A standard door height would have left a large gap above, and a single door would have restricted traffic flow.
Our solution was a complete storefront package comprising double active doors, fixed sidelights (side panels), and a transom window above. This configuration fills the entire structural opening, creating a grander sense of scale and allowing sunlight to flood the interior lobby.
Key Features of This Portfolio:
Panic Hardware for Safety: As seen through the glass, these doors are equipped with concealed vertical rod panic devices (crash bars) on the interior. This is a critical feature for commercial code compliance, ensuring safe and immediate egress for occupants in case of an emergency.
Clear Anodized Finish: The silver aluminum finish offers a timeless, industrial look that pairs exceptionally well with the light grey concrete exterior. Unlike painted finishes, anodized aluminum is chemically bonded to the metal, making it highly resistant to chipping, peeling, or fading in direct sunlight.
Maximized Visibility: By utilizing narrow-stile rails and full-height tempered glass in the doors, sidelights, and transom, we created a "wall of glass" effect. This transparency is ideal for retail spaces or offices that want to connect the interior environment with the outdoors.
Heavy-Duty Performance: The system includes surface-mounted overhead closers and offset pivots designed to withstand thousands of open/close cycles per year, making it perfect for high-traffic commercial environments.
Why Choose a Storefront System?
Code Compliance: Our systems are engineered to meet all local building codes regarding ADA accessibility and fire egress.
Energy Efficiency: The use of weather-stripping and insulated glass options helps maintain interior temperatures, reducing the strain on HVAC systems.
Versatility: The modular nature of aluminum storefronts allows us to custom-size the transom and sidelights to fit any rough opening perfectly.
Conclusion
Simple, strong, and sophisticated. This silver aluminum double-door entrance proves that you don't need over-the-top design to make a lasting impression. If you are constructing a new commercial building or replacing an old entryway, trust our team to deliver precision fabrication and installation.
